Sony BDP-S300 : Blu-ray at 599$
Sony is about to launch a Blu-ray Player with a very competitive price tag.
The BDP-S300 should be selling at around 599$. That’s an attractive price for a player with the same functions as the high-end BDP-S1 selling at 999$. The reason for this is the increasing sales figure for Toshiba’s HD-DVD that’s going at around 349$ for the former generation and 899$ for the upmarket HD-XE1 in the States today. The sales figures for the Playstation 3 must have something to do with it too.

Sony’s BDP-S300 is smaller than the BDP-S1, actually the same size as your average DVD Player. It’s 1080p and will play Cds unlike the BDP-S1. The exact date for the roll out is yet to be announced but according to Stan Glasgow, President of Sony Electronics, the new players should be out before Christmas and priced below 500$.
