Arcam rDock : smart iPod dock

Arcam launches the rDock. Another iPod dock will you say….Yes but this latest baby by Arcam actually has what it takes soundwise. It is thought to be the first of its kind on the market.

Both its construction and materials are influenced by home stereo gear. It also has some interesting features like an intelligent charging system that you can program to “charge-off” so that you can use it and let it drain ready for a complete recharge. This is rather handy as it prevents you from damaging your iPod with repeated charging and also avoids interference. And it has been shown that quality takes a great leap forward when the iPod runs autonomously.

The rDock includes a pre-amp for iPod with high performance op-amps and low noise, double-regulated power supplies.

When integrated with the Arcam Solo, the iPod can be controlled with the remote, and music information will be shown on the Solo’s front-panel display. Listeners can also connect any dockable iPod to more sources through increased output options, including native RCA stereo output as well as RCA and S-video jacks for image-capable iPods.

The rDock is already available in the UK at £130.
