Here they come at last! The first ever HD-DVD player/recorders featuring a built-in hard drive by Toshiba are coming out in Japan.

They announced two new products : the Toshiba RD-A600 and the RD-A300. The only difference between them is the hard drive capacity (600 Go and 300 Go respectively, which makes 78 or 39 hours of HD video). Both are equipped with the latest VARDIA engine to record video onto HDDVD-R and HDDVD-R DL discs. You can work it faster and access more sophisticated menus than with former engines.

Toshiba RD-A600 is compatible with Dolby NR TrueHD and DTS-HD, has exit HDMI and it can be installed in a net using the door Ethernet. Each model also comes with a digital tuner (Japanese norm).

Out in Japan at the end of June with the RD-A600 priced around ¥ 200,000.
