The VSX-808RDS is a combination of practically everything that one can have in an amplifier. It is in fact the only one of its category to be able to decode absolutely all audio formats possible, including MPEG2, and the only one to have as many S-Video inputs. It is equipped with four digital inputs which are, in addition, addressable, and on top of this, something which is normally reserved for the cream of the crop: a digital output, allowing you to directly manage, in digital, Mini Disc recorders or CD recorders.

It’s apparent that Pioneer had wished to make a splash with their return to the world of Home Cinema amplifiers. In terms of amplification, the 5 x 60 W seem to be quite adequate. Nevertheless don’t forget that this amplifier is proposed at an exceptional price (around 600 Euros, or under 4,000 French Francs). All this being said, don’t count on miracles in a room of 100 square metres
