THX

It was in the early ‘80’s that George Lucas asked his friend Thomas Holmison to think of a norm that would allow for the truest possible reproduction of a real sound atmosphere in a movie theatre. Since then, the THX programme has come a long way, having to adapt over time to new audio standards and succeeding in imposing a real quality standard for which all top-line material carries the logo. It’s sure that in the future, whether it be in the realms of new broadcasting or reproduction standards, George Lucas and his THX norm will have their word to say.

To understand the subject, it’s worth remembering that THX is not a sound standard, but a quality norm. This standard is applied to various levels of the Home Cinema system.
